Choccodiva Unveils Brazilian-Inspired Chocolate Delights in West Hartford

Brazilian Flair Sweetens West Hartford

At 282 Park Road in West Hartford, a new chocolate shop is infusing traditional treats with a distinctive Brazilian twist. Founded by Priscilla Pedrosa, the shop has quickly become a neighborhood favorite, offering freshly made confections that reflect both her heritage and lifelong passion for chocolate.

Early Inspirations and a Dream Realized

Priscilla’s dedication to chocolate began early in life. At the age of 12, she started creating chocolate bon bons to sell at school, even though her family didn’t have much money. Her irresistible treats soon became the talk of her neighborhood, with locals lining up to buy her creations.

While working as a house cleaner, Priscilla maintained her passion as a side gig with the full support of her husband. He even transformed their basement by building a kitchen dedicated to her confectionery art. It wasn’t long before a chance meeting set the stage for Choccodiva Confections to become a full-time venture.

A Taste of Brazil

The shop’s signature offering is a dessert known as brigadeiro—a traditional Brazilian treat made from condensed milk, dark chocolate, and butter. The mixture is cooked until it reaches a boil, then allowed to cool before being rolled into soft, truffle-like balls. Each brigadeiro is dressed in a variety of toppings, from coconut flakes to colorful mini candy pieces.

Pedrosa’s creativity doesn’t stop there. She uses brigadeiro as a versatile ingredient throughout her menu, coating cake pops and even adding an extra layer to her Dubai chocolate creations. In addition to these confections, the shop features a variety of cakes, cake pops, lollipops, honey bread, a selection of premium chocolate desserts, as well as ice cream and coffee.

The New Shop Experience

Opened during a soft launch on May 30, Choccodiva Confections warmly welcomed an enthusiastic crowd, far exceeding expectations. The interior offers a cozy seating area and a display counter that artfully showcases an array of desserts, each prepared fresh by hand daily using a machine only for tempering the chocolate. Pedrosa prides herself on making everything without preservatives and minimizing the use of artificial coloring.

Reflecting her Brazilian roots, every dessert carries a subtle nod to her cultural heritage, making the shop unique in the local scene.

Community Response and Future Hours

Since opening, the response has been overwhelming. “It’s something I had been praying for, and I just thank God for everything,” says Pedrosa, clearly moved by the support from the community. The shop now stands as both a culinary attraction and a testament to following one’s passion.

Choccodiva Confections welcomes customers Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
