Reflecting on his progression as an artist, Winans reveals that his creative process has evolved dramatically over the years. “After the loss of my brother Ronald, I wasn’t sure I could keep singing. But I soon realized that God had entrusted me with this gift for a reason. My first record expressed what it felt like to work within a group. This time, I approached the studio with clarity about what I wanted to say. Collaborating with Sean Garrett and others allowed me to capture that personal vision.”

He was shy and would quietly whisper instructions to Quincy Jones, who’d then pass them along. It was only when my brother Marvin playfully told him that we were all present that Michael relaxed, and the magic of the moment truly unfolded.”
