Choccodiva Unveils Brazilian-Style Chocolate Treats in West Hartford

Brazilian Flavors Sweeten West Hartford

Priscilla Pedrosa’s passion for creating chocolate desserts began at the tender age of 12 when she crafted chocolate bon bons to sell at school. Growing up, even with modest means at home, her treats quickly became a local favorite, with neighbors lining up to buy her homemade confections.

Despite working as a house cleaner, Pedrosa never abandoned her love for chocolate. With her husband’s support—notably by building a kitchen in their basement—she honed her craft, turning her cherished recipes into a thriving side business. A chance meeting arranged by her husband with the owner of a former candy boutique ultimately paved the way for Pedrosa to convert her passion into a full-time endeavor.

The Birth of Choccodiva Confections

On May 30, Pedrosa opened the doors to her new shop, Choccodiva Confections, a name inspired by a close friend who once dubbed her “the diva of chocolate.” Located at 282 Park Road in West Hartford, her boutique offers an array of chocolate desserts that celebrate her Brazilian heritage.

A Menu with a Brazilian Twist

In addition to a selection of cakes, mini cakes, lollipops, and honey bread, Choccodiva Confections features Dubai chocolate, a variety of ice cream, and freshly brewed coffee. With the exception of using a tempering machine for the chocolate, every item is prepared daily by hand—free of preservatives and with minimal coloring.

One of Pedrosa’s signature offerings is the brigadeiro, a traditional Brazilian dessert made from condensed milk, dark chocolate, and a touch of butter. In its preparation, the mixture is cooked until it boils, then cooled and rolled into small balls, yielding a soft, truffle-like treat. These delectable sweets are dressed with toppings such as mini M&M’s, coconut flakes, or even strawberry shavings. Pedrosa has creatively incorporated brigadeiro into many of her recipes, from coating cake pops to enhancing her Dubai chocolate.

Community Response and Shop Hours

Since opening her shop, Pedrosa has been delighted by the overwhelming response from the community. “It’s something I had been praying for. I just thank God for everything. A lot of people came—it was more than I expected. It was really exciting,” she shared.

Choccodiva Confections welcomes guests from Tuesday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inviting everyone to experience her unique blend of chocolate artistry and Brazilian flair.
