Open Call for Allies: A Call to Arms
I no longer feel secure in the country where I was born. Even attending Jewish gatherings—held in secret until the very last minute and guarded by armed personnel checking identification—only reinforces the sense that danger lurks around every corner. Despite this underlying fear, coming together in community feels essential, even if it barely overcomes the anxiety of potential harm.
Every day, the brutal reality of violence against Jews is normalized and excused by those who ignore its impact. While many continue their routines without a second thought, we are left facing threats simply for existing as Jews. The warning is clear: if we do not unite, our situation is only going to deteriorate further.
I firmly believe in the strength of our community, yet I also know that our numbers must grow substantially to counteract this rising tide of hate. If you have read this message, please stand up against anti-Semitism and help make our world more compassionate. Whether you think of it as a mitzvah or a simple act of solidarity, your support matters deeply at a time when our future is at risk.
One thought continues to haunt me: every Jewish child eventually asks, “Why do they hate us?” There seems to be no simple explanation for the animosity we face. Explaining hate to a child is nearly impossible, and even as adults, this question remains unanswered. I hold onto the hope that by speaking out, we can offer a different legacy—one where our right to simply exist and live safely is upheld by many, not just by us alone.
What message, then, are we passing on to our children? We are all too tired of having to justify our history and the very legitimacy of our existence. Every day, the echoes of dangerous rhetoric and acts of violence remind us that our struggles are far from over. Even when reminders of past atrocities knock at our doors, the world around seems indifferent, as if our fears are too remote or too complicated to address.
I have endured unspeakable levels of hate through online threats and even in everyday encounters, where my full identity forces me to confront risks I never imagined. In many public interactions, I now hide behind my initial, not out of shame, but out of genuine concern for my safety. I carry with me the memory of my grandparents who escaped persecution; I wish they were here to share their wisdom and offer guidance during these turbulent times. Their absence underscores how desperately we need collective courage and support.
I am reaching out because I can no longer bear the isolation of shouting into a void. We have witnessed this cycle of hatred before, and without brave allies to speak out for our community, our shared future is in jeopardy. It’s a simple request: please, raise your voice against the injustice and fear that plague us. Let your support be the sign that someone sees us and cares about our right to live without terror.
We need allies—voices of compassion and courage who are willing to speak up on behalf of a community that is too often overlooked. The time for silence is over. I am waiting for those who are brave enough to stand with us, to transform fear into hope, and to help ensure a safer tomorrow for everyone.
